Cocurricular Activities

Color Guard - Our color guard is comprised of four cadets, one carries the American flag, one carries the Arizona State flag and two guards.  They present the colors before all home football, basketball and volleyball games. They also present the colors before all school assemblies.  Our color guard is often called upon by various organizations around the city to open their meetings with the presentation of the colors.  Our color guard competes at about ten drill competitions throughout the school year.  This is the most visible of all our activities.

Drill Teams - There are four drill teams, two armed (a 10-person and a 4-person) teams, and two unarmed (a 10-person and a 4-person) teams.  The 10-person teams compete at the seven competitions mentioned above.  They compete usually in three categories:  inspection, regulation drill and exhibition drill.  The 4-person teams compete only in the exhibition category.

Veterans Day Parade - On November 11th of every year the corps participates in Tucson's Veterans Day Parade.  The color guard, drill teams and an AZ-943rd Group formation made up of the remaining cadets march in this parade.

Community Service - Cadets perform activities that support our school and community.  These can include crowd control (football games), escorts for school functions, food drives, annual community cleanup, any other activities beneficial to our community, etc.

Orienteering Team - Two person teams develop their land navigation skills and compete in several orienteering competitions throughout the year.

Recruiting - travel to Tucson middle schools to present our program and promote interest in becoming a part of the corps.

Model Rocket Club - Cadets design, build and fly model rockets that are made of paper, plastic, balsa wood or other suitable lightweight material. Cadets who successfully build and fly a model rocket three times are awarded the Model Rocketry Badge.

Model Airplane Club - Cadets design, build and fly model aerospace vehicles.  Cadets may build flying models and static models.

Fundraising - participating in raising money for the various group activities such as annual cadet ball, awards brunch, field day, equipment, etc.
