COLLEGE CREDIT: 

The University of Colorado, Colorado Springs has approved college credit for the AFJROTC Program.  The cost is $65 per credit hour.

The Adams State College (ASC), Alamosa, Colorado has approved college credit for the AFJROTC Program and Leadership Courses.  A regionally accredited institution of higher learning:  http://www.adams.edu/hlc/.  Cost is $60 per credit hour.

The courses are:

 

LEAD 120 American Veterans-Profiles in Leadership** (2 or 3 credits)

LEAD 122 Personal Financial Management** (2 credits)

LEAD 124 Character Education and Community Service** (2 credits)

LEAD 126 Citizenship and Community Service** (2 credits)

LEAD 128 American Defense Policies and Leadership (3 credits) (for Seniors only)

LEAD 130 Foundations for Success in Health, Wellness and Physical Fitness (2 credits)

LEAD 132 Cultural Understanding of Leadership Development through Global Studies (1, 2, or 3 credits)

LEAD 134 Military History Staff Ride (3 credits)

LEAD 136 Basic Leadership Experiences (3 credits) (for Juniors only)

LEAD 138 Community Service-Learning: An American Ethic** (2 credits)

ID 179 College Options (1 credit)

 

    ** These five courses have inherent in them a Community Service-Learning Education Project.

 

TOTAL STUDENT/CADET CREDITS:  26  All credits are transferable, nation-wide, as leadership electives per each regionally accredited institution's local policies.  It is strongly suggested that programs limit their students to no more than 16 credits, or four credits per school year.  Local instructors evaluate which courses/credits best fit local curricula and district needs.  Students must be 16 years of age on the day of registration, and can register for past efforts/achievements completed, in any manner approved by their local instructors.

Please note these important facts: JROTC Cadets must register individually on-line at http://www.leadershipcredit.net/rh_step1.php.  Registration periods are anytime, but semester oriented "three times a year":  Fall, Spring, and Summer.  Registration takes less than ten minutes and is completed the same day for all students who pay ASC with a credit card.  Expanded instructions are available at the website in paragraph two.  The current tuition rate is $60 per credit ($120.00 per 2-credit course). 

This opportunity allows those who desire it, to get a head start on their college credits, and validates our belief that JROTC is a "world-class" academic leadership program worthy of higher education accreditation.  Currently leadership elective credits offered on www.jrotccollegecredit.com remain available at a higher tuition rate, than this program with Adams State College.  Eventually, ASC could become the sole source of academic credits.
