Introducing our:
HOLLADAY NEIGHBORHOOD
COMMUNITY RESOURCE GUIDE
Holladay Intermediate Magnet School
Promoting Health and Wellness Through
Enhanced Community Relationships
Holladay values our local community resources and assets around the school that makes us a unique school and community partnership. The Holladay Community Resource Guide has been developed for parents, school personnel, students and community partners interested in promoting the health and wellbeing of the Holladay school community. In this resource guide you will find information and opportunities for Holladay families such as local programs and services that will assist you in raising healthy and active kids, after school programs and summer camp opportunities to keep them busy, productive and engaged, and health and social support services, including counseling, family support services and prevention programs. We hope that teachers will find these resources useful too, for supplementing classroom learning and extra-curricula activities as we strengthen our Expeditionary Learning First Choice focus at Holladay.
The idea for guide was initiated when our PTO felt that relationships between the school, local and neighborhood businesses and service organizations could be strengthened to encourage more school and community program partnerships. With the loss of many school services across our district and State, parents and school personnel wanted to ensure that our students were benefitting from all the community resources and services available to us to promote health and wellness for our students, school community and environment. An internship was created with a graduate student from the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health at The University of Arizona in partnership with the PTO to create this community resource guide. Priorities for the health and wellness concerns included in the guide came from results of an online survey for parents and school personnel.
They say it takes a village to raise the child, so we gathered together some of the resources available to us in our “village”. We hope you find it useful and reassuring that Holladay is building healthy students in healthy communities and environments.
