Health and Medicine at School
.
Parents can help to keep down the spread of diseases by keeping children at home if they are sick. Keeping a child home as soon as he/she complains of any symptoms will protect your child and the other children in our school from serious infection.
.
1. (A) Prescription drugs sent to school must be in the original pharmacy container and labeled with the child's name, dosage, and time to be taken.
   .
(B) Non-prescription medicine cannot be administered unless the family physician indicates a need and the nurse has written directions to do so.
   .
3. Any over the counter medications sent with children to self-medicate during the day (i.e. allergy pills) will be confiscated and returned to the parent.
3. The parent or guardian must drop the medication off in the office, rather than sending it to school with the student.
   .
If a child becomes ill at school, the parent/guardian will be notified to pick him/her up. If we are unable to reach a parent or guardian, the designee on the emergency card will be contacted. It is expected that your child will be picked up within 60 minutes after being notified at home or at work.
...
A new green emergency card must be completed for all students each year. It is extremely important to have the phone number of someone who can be contacted during the day in case of an emergency. If we do not have someone to contact for an emergency, it will be necessary to call 911.  Please call the office to let us know of phone changes, etc.

Immunizations

....

Arizona State Law requires that a child must be immunized against diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), polio, measles and HIPB rubella before he/she enters school. State immunization law also requires Hep B (Hepatitis B) done #1 before entry to kindergarten or first grade; doses #2 and #3 according to schedule. We must have shot records on file in order for you child to attend school at Kellond. Our School Nurse or Health Clerk will be calling if shot records are incomplete.
