HISTORY OF MAGEE

 OPEN 47 YEARS AND COUNTING!

Magee History Matching Game

Mr. Magee was born in Douglas, when Arizona was still a territory. He was educated in Douglas and was a public school graduate in 1923. He graduated from the University of Arizona in 1930. He started off with Tucson School District shortly after. Mr. Magee became a teacher at Safford Middle School. In 1938 he began teaching math at Tucson High School. During his teaching at Safford, he was sent to World War II. After 18 months of being away at war, he came back to Tucson High School and took on the position of teaching the Military Department. He then became the manager of the high school's bookstore. In 1955 he became Assistant Superintendent of Business Management. He passed away on January 10, 1960. Joseph W. Magee Middle School opened its doors in January 1964. The school was dedicated to Mr. Magee because he was a role model to everyone.
