Welcome Back!

What a wonderful beginning to our 20th year at Maldonado Elementary.  It was delightful to see  families back and motivated to make another successful school year.  A special thanks goes to all the  parents who made sure that their child practiced their reading over the summer months.  Other special thanks goes to all the parents who participated in the Ice Cream social and Open House.

Coffee with the Principal

Friday, September 7, 2007 will be our first “Coffee with the Principal” from 8:00-8:30 a.m. This is a great opportunity for parents to meet with the principal informally to talk about any issues, and the development of our school as a whole.  I encourage parents to attend.

As A Title I School, our School Improvement Plan will focus on the following topics;

Reading, Writing, Math, Technology, Attendance, and School Community Outreach.

ARRIVAL TIME FOR SCHOOL

All students should arrive at school between 7:40-7:49am.  Unless they are eating breakfast, which   begins at 7:15am.  The first bell rings at 7:49.  Students should be lined up outside their classroom door no later than 7:54am, when the second bell rings.  On rainy days, students should go directly to the cafeteria and wait for their teachers to pick them up.  Please remind your child to come to the cafeteria to eat breakfast or wait outside under  supervision until the first bell rings.

 Think Safety First

 Thank you for driving slowly and carefully.

Welcome to the second edition of The Maldonado Minute Magazine.  As we continue to reach out to the community and meet your needs, the Maldonado Minute will be used as a bridge to connect the school, parents, and the community in which we live.  Please use it as a tool to help guide you throughout the school year.  It is available electronically on the Maldonado website @  http://edweb.tusd.k12.az.us/Maldonado/newsletter.htm

Please see the literacy program section on page 2 for more information on how to get your story published in the magazine!
