Principal’s Corner– Mary Mercado

Dear Maldonado Families,

We have had a great first few weeks of school at Maldonado Elementary!  Our teaching staff is working hard at educating our students and making sure each child is receiving a challenging, relevant, and high quality education.   We are also working hard at making sure our school is a safe and positive environment for both our students and staff.   While we continually get positive feedback regarding our students conduct, we want to continue to make a special effort each year to reduce bullying behavior.  As parents you can support our efforts in reducing bullying in our school in the following ways; Reinforce with your child that bullying behavior is wrong!  Students need to treat all people with respect. Contact school personnel immediately should your child share with you that he/she has been bullied in our school.  This information is crucial and we will do whatever we can to make this situation better for your child.

Maldonado School Uniform Voting Update;

If you have not done so already, please vote whether or not you’d like Maldonado students to transition to using school uniforms for the 2010-2011 school year. We need one vote for each students enrolled at Maldonado.  We currently have 313 votes in.  210 Yes votes and 103 No votes.  We need a total of 400 votes altogether.  If you have not submitted your vote please do so ASAP.

Por favor voten para indicar si les gustaría o no que los estudiantes de Maldonado usen uniformes para el año escolar 2010-2011.  Necesitamos un voto de los padres para cada uno de los estudiantes.  Tenemos 313 votos.  210 indicando SI y 103 indicando NO.  Necesitamos 400 votos en total.  Si no han votado, por favor hágalo inmediatamente.

Dear Maldonado Students, Parents and Staff;

Thank you for helping make the Bowling Fundraiser a BIG success.  Our grand prize winners were Adrian Maldonado and Jeffrey Ladd.  Remember October 14th is Maldonado Family night at Santa Cruz Lanes.  Mark your calendars for every second Wednesday of each month all school year.  Also our Maldonado Family Fun Night is coming on Oct. 30th from 5:00pm-8:00pm. Please plan to come out and join us, it’s a great family event and always a lot of fun.  Presale tickets will be on sale soon, before school, at lunch time, and after school.  Tickets will be pre-sold at 7 for a $1 or 5 for $1 the night of the event.  Don’t wait in line and buy your tickets early.  We are looking for Volunteers to help us out in the Cafeteria with the food booths.  Please sign up on the Bulletin located outside of the front office.  Thank you, Alma Corona., PTA President.

Coffee with the Principal: Friday, October 2, 2009.  Coffee with the Principal from 8:00-8:30 a.m. This is a great opportunity for parents to meet with the Principal informally to talk about any issues and the development of our school as a whole.  I encourage parents to attend!
