Talent Show Fundraiser for P.T.A.

The excitement is building for our Spring 2005 Talent Show. Teachers are asking for interested students and looking for parents to help with rehearsals, costumes and sets.  If you would like to be involved, please let your child's teacher or Ms. Perkins know.

Tryouts have been moved up to Friday, April 22, in the cafeteria from 2:30 until 4:30 pm.

This gives us the week of 4/18, after testing, to get ready for the tryouts.  Each teacher may turn in two applications and at least one act from each classroom that applies will make it into the show. We'll know by the end of tryouts which acts have made it into the show.

First rehearsal will be Monday, April 25.  Students will get a full schedule of rehearsals from their teachers. Dress rehearsals are May 2nd  and 6th  in the cafeteria, from 2:30 to4:30 pm.

Showtime will be May 9th and 10th.  School performances will be at 8:30 am and the evening performances will be at 6:30 pm.

The Talent Show and our Family Fun Night in October, are our two  P.T.A. fundraisers this year.

Admission will be $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for children 12 and under.  Popcorn and sodas will be on sale for the evening shows.  We'll need volunteers to help with the sale of refreshments.

So we hope you and your family get into the spirit with us, as we close out our school year with a wonderful, creative display from our talented and brave Talent Show performers!

Parents on Patrol

Interested parents who would like to increase the amount of supervision at Maldonado are encouraged to give your name to our secretaries, Aggie and Terri.  The P.T.A. will then contact you when any events are scheduled towards setting up our own "Maldonado Parents on Patrol".  As a volunteer you would add valuable eyes and ears to our campus.  Our hope is to schedule enough volunteers, to cover all areas of our campus, before school, during lunches and at dismissal.

Maldonado Elementary has implemented a new program called "Bully Proofing." Children being bullied need and deserve adult intervention and help.  Essential for the success of this program, is adults who see, hear, and report bullying to the monitors, principal or teachers.

As a volunteer Parent on Patrol, you would, be able to pick your own times to serve.  There is a training and screening process that all volunteers would need to complete.  Thank you for considering this possibility.

We hope to get this program up and running in the first quarter of the 2005-2006 school year.

Traffic Concerns

We thank you, parents and caregivers, who pick up students at the west, south or horseshoe pick up points from the school's curb.  We remind you that the north side bus bay is not a student pick up area.  It is only for school bus loading. Thanks for holding onto your students in the parking lot. Safety first, at all times.

Maldonado's Web Page is Ready!

Mrs. Skorupski's Library-Technology Club students have been working very hard at creating a web page for our school!

      Please add the following address:

http://edweb.tusd.k12.az.us/maldonado/

to your "Favorites" list. Make it a point to visit your child's classroom, located in "Teachers" to view important information and student work that is being featured!

There's also a page for PTA information and in the "Library" are pages for Parents to "link" to fun things for families!
