On November 19th, a crisp Saturday morning, children, families and staff met at the Early Learning Campus for a breakfast potluck and a full day of digging, hauling and planting. Today, the outcome of this work day is all around the Early Learning Campusfruit trees, rock pathways, new garden plots, grapevines and a place for the new chicken coop.
Thanks to Natalie Mast from the Drachman Institute and Paula McPheeters, PACE teacher, Ochoa has received more than $11,000 in landscaping resources, materials, plants and tools to create a greener, sustainable, and biodiverse landscape for our school and for our children and families.
The work and study that will come from this remarkable gift, will engage and enhance childrens study of the ecosystems that are unique to the Sonoran desert.
Thank you to all who participated on that special Saturday. So much work was doneso many connections were made!
All are invited to become collaborators in the continuing study and care of our new trees, plants, gardens and chickens.
