Kindergarten: Instrumental duo of bass and oboe. Students will learn reading and math as it relates to music. They will also have OMA class with Ms. Rinehart (Arts Integration Specialist) to learn auditory memory and auditory acuity as well as language development through singing and playing instruments.
First Grade: Instrumental duo of bass and oboe. (See Kindergarten) They will also have OMA class with Ms. Rinehart and will work on language development through singing and making plays from stories and books that they read in class.
Second Grade: Creative Movement will be used to develop group skills and creative problem solving. The students will also have OMA class to learn songs and do activities that relate to the subject areas that they are studying in class.
Third Grade: Students will learn to play the recorder and will also learn songs and enjoy activities in the OMA room that relate to the subject areas studied in class.
Fourth Grade: Students will have String class twice a week to learn the violin. They will also have activities (songs, Reader's Theatre, dances, etc.) that will correlate to their classroom studies.
Fifth Grade: These students will continue with strings or will learn a band instrument as part of their OMA program. They will also have an opportunity to work in the OMA room using the arts to support what they are studying in class.
Sixth Grade: Students will be able to continue their study of strings or band with a third option of studying theatre arts with Ms. Rinehart. They will prepare performances for the school during the year.
