Good
day,
I hope
your visit to Safford's web page, and to my own personal link has been enjoyable
and enlightening.
I have been an educator for ten years and this is my 8th year at Safford.
Before Safford I taught at Kofa High in Yuma.
Before that I substitute taught around Tucson and coached at Saguaro
High. I
earned my teaching degree in Secondary Education from the University of Arizona
and later earned a Masters in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona
University.
I teach two classes at Safford.
The first is 8th grade Social Studies.
I work closely with the other 8th grade Social Studies teacher, Ms.
Gilbert, to develop richly educational curriculum that meets Arizona's Social
Studies standards Safford students will learn about the
Revolutionary War Era, the U.S. Constitution, WWII, the Cold War, the Civil
Rights Era, modern presidents, and current events in 8th grade Social Studies.
Students will do a lot of reading and writing to show what they have
learned, but students also demonstrate knowledge by playing games and drawing
from time to time.
My other class is an elective where we read and discuss engaging novels
for enjoyment and simulate life "on our own" after we finish school.
Students learn basic budgeting concepts like living within their means
and measuring income against expenses.
Away from school I enjoy anything that gets me moving outside.
I'm a big fan of running, cycling, swimming, and fishing.
I enjoy all sports, especially football and basketball.
I also enjoy spending time with family and working around the house.
I also have another job on weekends.
I'm a hip hop artist and rapper.
I speak on my experiences growing up in Tucson.
Mainly the harsh realities of country club life.
It's hard out there.
My rap name is B-Dawgg, the extra "g" is for street cred.
Not that I need it.
If you look really hard maybe you can see me perform.
My students keep bothering me to rap in class, but that would take away
instructional time.
Besides I'm not going to rap for free!
No way!
