Hello and welcome!  My name is Steven Gabaldon and I’m an assistant principal at Safford K-8 Magnet School.  I have been an assistant principal at Safford for 4 years and I consider myself very lucky to be a part of the Safford community.  We have an incredibly fun, challenging and innovative curriculum at Safford, where Technology and Engineering classes attract students from all over the city.  We are also an International Baccalaureate candidate School.  Our goal at Safford is to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a productive and peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

That’s me in the middle surrounded by my Safford friends.  I have been an educator for 15 years.  When I was a classroom teacher, I taught sixth, seventh and eighth grade science, ESL, Chicano Studies, and seventh grade Social Studies.  I attended the University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University to attain my college degrees.  My wife, Jeannette, and I have a daughter, Saraela.  Reading bed time stories, playing at the park, and singing songs are all a part of my Daddy resume. Growing up in East Los Angeles, you had to be a Lakers’ fan.  At the age of twelve, I had the opportunity to attend Magic Johnson’s basketball camp and play a game of one on one with Magic himself.

Please feel free to visit Safford or call me with any questions or concerns.  Thank you!
