What is the AIMS HS?
The AIMS HS (High School) is a criterion -referenced test with questions developed by Arizona educators and based on the Arizona Academic Standards. It is an assessment of three content areas: writing, reading, and mathematics. It is administered in Arizona public school s each spring to Grade 10 students. It is again administered in the fall and spring to Arizona public school students in Grades 11 or 12 who have not yet met or exceeded the standard (passed) in one or more content areas.
What is the high school testing schedule?
AIMS HS Writing and Reading are administered in February. AIMS HS Mathematics is administered in April. All three content areas of AIMS HS are administered in October. Contact your student’s school for a copy of the district calendar with specific testing dates. When will I receive my student’s AIMS results?
AIMS results are sent to the student’s school district/charter school, and the district/charter school is responsible for their distribution. Fall AIMS HS results are available in December. Spring AIMS HS Writing and Reading reports are available in April. AIMS HS Mathematics results for graduating seniors are available in mid - May. All other AIMS HS Mathematics results, AIMS DPA results, and TerraNova results are available in June. Contact your student’s school for specific dates and methods of distribution of test score reports.
Graduation Requirements and AIMS
In Arizona Revised Statute 15-701.01 A 3, the state Board of Education is directed to “develop and adopt competency tests for the graduation of pupils from high school in at least the areas of reading, writing and mathematics and shall establish passing scores for each such test.” The state Board of Education adopted the following regulation R7-2-302, “…receipt of a passing score on the reading, mathematics and writing portions of the AIMS (Arizona’s Instrument to Measure Standards) assessment for the graduation of pupils from high school or issuance of a high school diploma, effective for the graduation class of 2006.

Board of Regents High Honors Tuition Waiver Scholarship
Qualified students will receive a full state university tuition waiver (cost of in-state tuition only) valid for one year following graduation from high school. The scholarship is renewable for four years based upon university-determined criteria. The actual dollar amount of the scholarship will vary based upon the tuition charged by the state university in which they have enrolled.
In order qualify for tuition waiver; students must meet the following criteria:
Part 1:
Students must complete all 16 Core Competency Courses by *graduation with a B or better in each course.
(16 Core Competency Courses: 4 units English; 4 units Math; 3 units Lab Science; 2 units Social Science; 2 units Foreign Language; and 1 unit Fine Arts, as defined by the Arizona Board of Regents Tri-University Admission requirements )
* A "B" or better must be received in each semester of the core classes. A "C" in a weighted course (Honors or Advance Placement course) does not convert to a "B". The grade is as reflected on the student's transcript.
