Visiting Your Guidance Counselor

The counselors at your school are there to help you achieve your college and/or career goals. Use them, but also be realistic. Depending on the size and type of your school, your counselor might be responsible for a handful of students or several hundred. Don't expect your counselor to micromanage you during the college admissions process-that's your job. And don't wait until the minute you absolutely need to know something to make your appointment. Count on the fact that he or she is as busy as you are, and give your counselor advance notice. Appointments can be made before and after school and during your lunch period.
