Senior Bulletin
The Senior Bulletin comes out approximately every 2-3 weeks with scholarship information and other information our counseling staff feels important for our Seniors.  When looking at the scholarship information, pay attention to the qualifications and if you feel as though you meet them ask your counselor for an application by number or access it online when available. Scholarship information can also be accessed on our Scholarship Bulletin Board found in the Administration Building. Stop by the Guidance Center and check out other opportunities for programs and experiences, jobs, community service, etc.

– Pima Community College Foundation Stars Online
Every single student going to Pima should do this!  Go through the following instructions:
1. Go to this website  https://scholarships.pima.edu/stars/
2. Click on "Start Here"
3. Follow the instructions to create a username and password (write them down!)
4. Complete the scholarship application.
5. Submit your high school transcripts - Very important! No transcripts = no chance of scholarships.  Fill out transcript request in the attendance office to request your transcripts. See instructions online about how and where to submit transcripts.
There are over 80 different scholarships that the Pima Community College Foundation manages and awards on this website. Only one application is necessary (some scholarships require extra information) to apply. Your application will be automatically matched with scholarships you might qualify for!

Community Service - Volunteer Southern Arizona
One of the most important requirements of virtually every scholarship and now most college applications is a record of volunteer community service hours. It need not be 100's of hours but you must show that you have done something for your school or community. - Volunteer Southern Arizona and their Youth Volunteer Corps located at 934 N. Alvernon. Phoenix Sheet Metal Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee
The Arizona sheet Metal Worker’s Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee is accepting applications for Apprentice Sheet Metal Workers.  The program is looking for men and women over the age of 18, interested in earning a paycheck while learning a trade and take college accredited classes through Gateway Community College.
Eligibility: Applicants must be at least 18, have a Photo ID, Social Security Card, submit a copy of their Birth Certificate, take and pass The Asset Test with a minimum score of thirty (30) on each test, a substance abuse test is required at the applicant’s cost, and it must be negative.  All applicants should be physically capable of performing the work of our trade and have reliable transportation.

University of Arizona College of Engineering Summer Academy
Students who attend the summer Engineering Academy (SEA) will learn to design aerodynamic cars using Solid Works CAD software and build models with 3-D Rapid Prototype technology.  Selected car models will be tested in a specially built wind tunnel. And students will be asked to use their imagination and design devices.
Eligibility: Open to high school students who will enter grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 in the fall of 2011.  Students with a strong interest in pursuing a college education that includes math, science, and engineering are encouraged to apply.
Dates for sessions:  Session 1     June 5-10, 2011 (students entering 9th-10th)
                                    Session 2     June 12-17, 2011
                                    Session 3     June 19-24, 2011
All sessions are one week.  Students stay in a student residence hall on The University of Arizona campus.

United Air Force Explorers
What: The United Air Force Explorers mission is to train, develop, and inspire those who have a high desire to join the Nations Armed Forces. This program offers training for fifteen weeks that focuses on concepts of military organization.  Their training also continues after the fifteen weeks with officer development and combat training.
Who:  A unit from the US Air National Guard provides military and crew training for young men and women ages 14-21.  Students must possess good grades and be of good moral charater.  Prospective candidates must have an interest in: Military career, military aviation, Special tactics, and a desire to entre one of the Military Service Academies or a College ROTC Program.
How:  Each individual desiring to join the unit as a cadet officer must pass a rigorous screening process.  A prospective recruit candidate must fill out the appropriate paperwork followed by at least two interviews by officers of the unit.

Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Scholarship Program
What:  The NROTC Scholarship Program offers students the opportunity to earn their degree and receive valuable leadership and management skills while enjoying the benefits of an exciting career.  Selected applicants receive full tuition and other financial benefits worth up to $180,000.00.
Who:  Basic eligibility requirements include: must be a US citizen, must be 17years old by September 1 of the first year of college, complete high school/equivalent certificate, and take the ACT or SAT test prior to deadline and receive minimu scores.  Once application is completed you may apply for either the Navy or Nurse Corps.  Upon completion of degree, receive commission as Ensign in the Navy Reserve.

Metropolitan Education commission
The Metropolitan Education Commission (MEC) invites you to the Regional College Access Center!  We are an information and referral center designed to serve Tucson and Pima County students, parents, counselors, and educators. Summer Programs at Carleton College
The Carleton Liberal Arts Experience (CLAE) is seeking students to experience a week long program introducing strengths of a liberal arts education to college bound students.  Each year, 50 CLAE scholars from a pool of candidates are chosen.  All expenses are covered.
Eligibility: Carleton is looking for 10th grade students who will complete their sophomore year of high school by June 15, 2011, are in the top 25% of their class, are taking a challenging college-prep curriculum and have been involved in their community.

America-Israel Youth Ambassador Exchange Program
Informational meeting on Sunday, February 13, 2010 – 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. for parents and high school sophomore students interested in becoming a youth ambassador their junior year.  Program includes three weeks of travel to New York City, Washington DC, and Israel (all expenses paid).  The meeting will be at Himmel Park Library, 1035 N. – Greater Tucson Youth Leadership Program 2011
The Greater Tucson Youth Leadership exposes youth to important issues facing our community through personal contact with high level leaders.  Youth will also learn and be able to apply practical leadership tools by creating their own service project.  The GTYLP is a dynamic collaboration between Volunteer Southern Arizona and community leaders.  This year, they are looking for 23 students (9-12) to participate in the program. A two week commitment and application are required for this program.

Program Specifics:
Date: July 11-22 (Monday-Friday)
Location: City High School (48 E. Pennington St, Tucson, Az 85701)
Time: Classes start at 9:00 am, end at 4:00 pm
