The United States Marine Corp

 

The United States Marine Corp is one of the four branchs of military in the U.S. They are well known for having the toughest basic training in all of the branchs of military. Thirteen weeks long is the Marine Corps training making the longest basic training. "First to Fight",the slogan for the Marines making them known to go into battle first befor anyother branch. The Marine Corp can react and rapidly deploy to an emergency in six hours since the order was givin. In 1755 the Marine Corp was formed by captain samuel nicholas and have been in every American conflict ever since.

Captain Samuel Nicholas formed two battalions of continental Marines. He is considered to be the first Commandant of the Marine Corps. The Marines have earned many nicknames through out history, jarhead, leatherneck, devil dog. Jarhead meaning there high and tight haricuts; Leatherneck is from the continental Marines who wore leather collars in the revolutionary war. Devil dog comes from WWI at the battle of belleau wood when german soldiers saw them storm up the hill with ferocity.

One of the many benifits in the Marine corp is traveling all over the world; From korea to japan, europe and africa, even south america. Marines are stationed all over the world.
