WELCOME TO CHUCKS SWEETER THAN HELL WEBSITE ON JEEPS, JACKSON REDD, AND EVERYTHING ELSE ITS BA.
Jeep started in the early 1940's by a company named Bantam. The US military was looking for a vehicle with a wheel base of no more than 75 inches. The deadline was 49 days to design and develop the vehicle. The vehicle that they took to the military was bought and then made by bigger motor corporations such as Ford. Bantam still had a small contract making trailers that the Jeep draged behind it. The word Jeep came from Eugene the Jeep from 'Popeye the Sailorman', not the 'GP' (general purpose) the Jeep was assinged a specific duty and was not a General Purpose vehicle.
