OPENING MINDS THROUGH THE ARTS PROGRAM “OMA is designed around brain-based research, multi-intelligence learning and the neurological development of children. The arts are used to target skills specific to a child’s brain development.” As part of the OMA family the Fine Arts room is now the OMA Room where the CORE Curriculum is re-enforced through the arts. The classroom teacher and the Arts Integration Specialist collaborate to enhance and strengthen the student’s educational experience. Students in Kinder through Fifth grade work with Artists in targeted areas specific to a child’s brain development and also collaborate with the Teachers and Arts Integration Specialist (AIS). We are also very excited to pilot OMA at the Pre-School level with a focus on psycho-motor skills through movement. For more information regarding OMA please visit http://www.tusd1lorg/oma What does OMA look like at Tully? Pre-school: Teachers and AIS collaborate with the artist on how to better help the students with psycho-motor skills that help with brain development and reading readiness. Ms. Wendy meets with students on Mondays for 30 minutes |
