Dr. Roman Soltero,

My two daughters, Fernanda and Diana Vazquez attended Tully Elementary. Fernanda for three years and Diana for seven; pre-school and kinder thru fifth. Tully is a very united environment for children with their welcoming attitude. Both my daughters had an amazing experience during their years at Tully.

My daughter Fernanda was very well involved. She was on the track team as well as in orchestra. She received numerous amounts of academic achievement awards as well as student of the month awards.

My other daughter, Diana, was taught well in academics leading her to be a part of the pull-out GATE program. She began an amazing journey of being a part of student council in the second grade and until now in high school as a part of Student Council. She learned many leadership qualities as well as decision making skills. She was student body president of Tully her fifth grade year, as well as her eighth grade year at Mansfeld Middle School and freshman class president at Tucson High.

We really grew attached to the qualities of Tully Magnet Elementary School and would highly recommend this school to any parent interested in success for their child.

Sincerely,

Reyna Vazquez

Ms. Tapia

Our sons have participated in the GATE program at Tully for the past three years. It has been a wonderful experience for them and for us. They enjoy the educational field trips and the challenging curriculum. We are happy to have them in classrooms with a more manageable number of students than the average. The GATE teachers at Tully are attuned to the needs of GATE students and differentiate instruction accordingly- no, "one size fits all" education here. Tully GATE parents are supportive and dedicated to their children's academic success and personal growth.

Sincerely,

Julia Westfall and John Hand

Dr. Roman Soltero

It is with great honor I write you this letter to commend you and your staff on an outstanding job. I have two children who began their school career at Tully. I firmly believe that because of this they are well on their way to becoming a success story.

My daughter Marissa is consistently ranked at the top of her class and continues to achieve many academic honors. Currently she is attending Mansfield. She has been on the Principal list every year and she is about to enter the eighth grade. She was requested to join the Junior Honor Society as a sixth grader.

My son, Zakary as well has been ranked at the top of his class, receiving numerous academic awards and student of the month awards. He will be attending Mansfield next year.

Dr. Soltero, you and your staff have reflected great honor on yourselves, Tully Elementary, and the Tucson Unified School District

Sincerely,

 Brian Lattimer

“We are very pleased with the GATE program offered at Tully Magnet Elementary School.  Our daughter participated in both 4th and 5th grade GATE.  The coursework provided an academic curriculum needed to meet her abilities beyond a non-gate class.  The classes challenged our daughter to strive for a higher level of creativity and apply higher order thinking skills across all subjects.”

My son spent five fun-filled years at Tully Elementary Magnet School. Having spent kindergarten at another school, at six he was apprehensive about changing schools so quickly. The fear was gone within a week. The welcoming attitude of the monitors, office staff, and teachers provides a sense of belonging and cammaraderie for the students. They have fun, and when it is time to hunker down and work, they do. And the teachers are there to guide them.

With a Boys and Girls club across the street, after-school tutorials, track, cross country, kickball tournaments, a chess club, ballet folklorico, and fifth grade band, there is a myriad of activities to keep your child busy. The parent teacher organization (PTO) is very active in assisting the principal and staff in teaching the children the proper manner in which to learn, act, and play.

Dr. Soltero's open-door policy allows both parents and students access to the inner workings of the school. I highly recommend this school to any parent interested in a safe and prosperous learning environment.

Dear Dr. Soltero,

As a parent and an employee of TUSD I would highly recommend Tully Elementary School as a place for children to commence their academic career. The enriching programs Tully offers allow students to begin to develop their potential as they are on their journey of becoming citizens of society.

I am a parent of three daughters, all of whom attended this exceptional school, and have each gained different but equally crucial skills throughout their time as Tully Tigers.

My eldest daughter Desiree, who is now a senior in high school, gained valuable experiences here at Tully as she was an active member of the Cross Country and Track and Field teams, which she also pursued in high school. While at Tully she performed a major part in the school play as well as saying a speech in her promotion ceremony. Both of these events helped her to practice her public speaking skills, which are not an easy task, especially at a young age.

My second daughter Daisy, who is now in middle school, was privileged enough to have had the opportunity to be the student council president while she was in fifth grade. By taking this position, she evolved as a leader and was challenged by new responsibilities.  Additionally, she was part of the self contained GATE classrooms from third to fifth grade. This program helped her to acquire much knowledge and advance as a thinker. This program separates Tully from other schools and is valuable to our community.

My youngest daughter Destiny is still a Tully Tiger, as she is in second grade. Although she is young, she has already begun to show progress as a student and with resources available here I am certainly sure she will gain the same educational value as her sisters. Tully Elementary is a great school and could not be replaced by any other.

            Thank you!

            Sincerely,

            Irma Esquivel

Ms. Tapia,

I should have said something while I was picking up Joshua, but I want you to know that Joshua is thriving & absolutely loving your class & you.  This is the first year we've noticed a real love of school from him.  So thank you.  You are so very affirming to Joshua.  We really appreciate your presence in his life.

Have a wonderfully relaxing vacation.

Merry Christmas.

Sue

Dear Dr. Soltero,

As a former Tully Tiger and having had two former Tully Tigers and one current Tully Tiger, I sincerely recommend Tully Elementary School and would consider it to be one of the best schools in TUSD.  The reality is that Tully is a highly performing school as well as a safe school because of all the different programs it has to support learning along with safety. Since most parents want the best for their children, I am sure I made the right choice for my three daughters by sending them to Tully School to start their early career.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and all faculty and staff for teaching and helping my daughters to have the best experiences throughout their elementary education as they began their journey of life.

            Sincerely,

     Jonathan Esquivel

Dear Dr. Soltero:

It is my pleasure to write to any parents that live in our neighborhood community looking to make Tully Elementary Magnet School their child's elementary school. Please know, that I am writing from the perspective of a former student and parent of Tully Elementary. I am a big advocate of the public school system and I believe that children that attend their community home schools are more comfortable with learning being in familiar surroundings close to their homes.

When you are on campus you are greeted from two of the nicest and most professional ladies in Tully Elementary, Glenda and Sue. I say this because these ladies create such a wonderful presence in the office throughout the school year. There is tremendous positive energy emanating from all the staff members throughout the school year starting with these two ladies.

Lucy Wimberly, Tully's Community Representative, is an exceptional and outstanding lady that has continuously been a positive role model for my children. All three of my kids love her and attribute their positive mature attitude to her.

Dr. Soltero has been a great Principal. He continuously reiterates Tully's mission of reading and anti,-bullying. The students appreciate his awareness of Tully's mission.

All three of my kids attended Tully Elementary. All three had good things to say about the school and their teachers. They all felt like their teachers were committed to teaching them the essentials to being successful students. My children appreciated having the Folklorico, Good News Club, Cross Country, Ballet and OMA programs.

I have volunteered many hours over 6 years at Tully Elementary with their Parent Teacher Organization and School Council. I feel it is important to have parent involvement with the school their child attends. It is crucial to their education. Each time I was on campus, Tully's staff showed appreciation and made me feel comfortable.

Over the years, my husband and I have been delighted to witness our children blossom into true learners. Both my son and daughter have had great report cards in their middle school and high school years. I believe that my children are excelling because of their strong foundation with Tully Elementary. They learned early on that education is the key to success.

Finally, I hope you find Tully Elementary School to be a good match for your child and family. It has been an honor to be part of this community my entire life.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth M. Bingham

 Dr Soltero,

Great to hear from you!  I remember you and Tully quite fondly, and think of you all often even though we're now living on the other side of Tucson.

Here's our GATE testimonial:

We had students in the Tully GATE program for 14 consecutive years!  Michael, our oldest, started in the 1st grade GATE program in 1996, and Emily, the last of our four, finished the 5th grade GATE program in 2010.  The teachers throughout the years were consistently high quality, and the education proved to be very solid.  Many of those teachers showed care and concern for the children above and beyond the regular call of duty.  Our children were well prepared for a rigorous GATE program at Doolen, and many made friendships that continue to this day.  I had many opportunities over the years to recommend the program to others.

Here it is, Ms. Tapia.

Tully GATE has been great.  It is like a private school in a public school playground, library, and other services.  Teachers are wonderful.  Peers are amicable.  Curriculum is good.  Tully OMA adds more attraction of Tully GATE.

Thanks,

 li

Dr. Soltero,

As a parent we all want the best for our children and a good education is fundamental for their success in life. As such, I chose to bring my children to Tully Magnet Elementary School.  Aside from all of the achievements and recognitions that Tully has attained, I truly admire the way the entire staff works together. Through this collaboration, the staff is able to execute a common plan that emphasizes the total success of each student.

I strongly believe that if we maintain our children engaged in extracurricular activities, they will be better suited to be successful in school and every day life.  With programs such as the O.M.A Gold Program, P.E., Folklorico, Chess Club, and the Good News Club, among others, students are able to explore and pursue their creative ambitions.  Moreover, initiatives such as the No-Bullying approach provide the students with different techniques for making positive choices.

Furthermore, Tully establishes a welcoming environment for its families.  Tully makes us feel part of the school by including us in our children’s educational process. The Parent Coffee Get-Together, Student of the Month Luncheon and most recently the Family Math Night help parents get ideas in order to help reinforce children’s schoolwork at home. It is also amazing to see how Tully, its students, parents and staff, come together with activities like the Thanksgiving Food Drive, Adopt a Child, and the Leukemia Fun Raiser to help families within the community.  These activities teach our children to be more kind hearted, giving and grateful.

Although my children are just in first and second grade, I am positive I have chosen the right school for them.  It is very pleasing to see them with a sense of enthusiasm to come to school every day.  I believe that it is a result of the encouragement, praise, and security that Tully offers my children.

 Sincerely,

 Gertrudes Villa
