and are currently juniors. We hope that you will encourage all juniors
interested in health careers to apply to the Med-Start Summer Program. Students
who are of groups underrepresented in the health care professions (Hispanic,
Native American, or African American) are especially encouraged to apply.

Saint Mary’s College of California Summer Math Camp- Summer 2011
We would
like to bring to your attention a math camp we are hosting this summer (2011) at
Saint Mary's College of California. We have been given a grant by the Math
Association of America (MAA) to run this enrichment program and are therefore
able to offer it entirely for free to students (except for a small deposit,
which students will get back.)
This is a
residential program. Please inform students that they will stay on campus at St
Mary’s College of California!!!

Air Force –
Deadline: accepting applications from now until 2/28/2011
The link at: http://academyadmissions.com/#Page/Summer_Seminar takes a long time to load and is difficult to navigate, but there is a great video clip of the program. The link at https://admissions.usafa.edu/secure/online/onlineapplication.exe?SS=true is easier to access but gives no information.
Navy –
Deadline: accepting applications from 1 February to 31 March 2011 (implied).

Merchant Marine –
The USMMA has no formal summer program. However visits to the Academy are beneficial and highly encouraged.
The link for visiting Kings Point is at: http://www.usmma.edu/admissions/visitingKP.htm. Visits are scheduled at least one week in advance.
Four things to remember.
1. These are highly competitive; earlier is better than later.
2. Cadets need to research the time frames of different programs if they
want to attend several (there may be overlaps).
3. An application to a summer program is an application to the academy;
only US citizens with SSN's can apply.
4. These are not free. Tuition/program costs are $350 with the student responsible for travel expenses.
It is never to late to start planning ahead! Please see Ms. Allen with any questions you may have!!!!
