Behavior Policies

Our annual school fiesta will be on Friday April the 27th.

 

 

 

Level 1- Must be dealt with or addressed in the classroom by teacher (Do not remove student from class, other than buddy classroom).

Infraction

Teacher Response

·   Tardy

·   Dress Code Violation

·   Argumentative

·   Candy/Gum/Food

·   General Misconduct

·   Insulting Others

·   Excessive Noise

·   Not following directions

·   Off task behavior

·   Out of seat

 

Step 1 – Teacher applies appropriate classroom management: (suggested order of consequences)

·   Eye contact – Proximity

·   Student is given a verbal warning

·   Private Conversation

·   Seating assignment

·   Solicit team input

Step 2 – Begin including outside resources:

·   Time out in class/Think Table

·   Time out with a “buddy” classroom.

·   The teacher may assign break or lunch detention.

·   The teacher must make parental/guardian contact (telephone call, letter, home visit).  Record the date for documentation purposes.  Making parental contact early in the process may eliminate the need for other steps.

·   Disrespecting others

·   Profanity directed at others

·   Continued cheating

·   Continual lack of preparation for class

·   Running/Horseplay

·   Throwing things

Repeated Level 2 offenses

·   Teacher meeting with student/parent/other appropriate support staff.

·   Referral written and placed in administrator mailbox.

Level 3: May require a written referral, (Do not remove student from class, other than buddy classroom).

·   Continual disrespect

·   Stealing?

·   Increasing defiance

·   Continued disruption of class

·   Inappropriate language behavior (touching)

·   Note/Letter writing with information of intent to harm self or others

·   Continued excessive time off task

·   Food fight

·   Bus infractions

·   Graffiti

·   Grade Level/Team Consequence

Step 2

·  Time out with a “buddy” classroom.

·  Team meeting with parent/student – counselor and/or administration may be invited

·   The teacher may assign student to Lunch detention or After-school detention.

·  Referral written and placed in administrator mailbox.

Level 4: Requires a written referral, student sent to administrator.

·     Running from class/ditching

·   Profanity towards adult

·   False Fire Alarm

·   Use/Possession/Sale of Illegal Drugs and Alcohol

·   Use/Possession of Tobacco

·   Physical confrontation (pushing)

·   Possession of weapon

·   Arson

·    Disruptive in buddy teacher class (buddy teacher must write behavior referral)

·   Theft or Possession of Lost or Stolen Property

·   Vandalism

·   Forgery, Altering Official Documents/ Communications

·   Reckless Endangerment(includes tantrums)

·   Direct Defiance/Disrespect to teacher or substitute (serious incident)

·   Assault, Fighting/Threat of Violence/Spitting on another person

·   Lewd Conduct

·   Harassment (critical incident or repeated threats/intimidation)

·        Call for Administrator

·        Written referral to administration

·        Student escorted out of class to office by administrator

·        Contact Parent

·        Notify team

 

 

Administration actions will be according to the Guidelines for Student Rights and Responsibilities – Reporting to law enforcement will be responsibility of administration.
