Carrillo Magnet School, built in 1930, stands in the shadow of the downtown skyscrapers. It is situated at the north end of El Barrio Viejo. In the 1800's Leopoldo Carrillo created the first park in Tucson which included a lake, groves of trees, a zoo, and gardens. Carrillo School now stands on this historic site. Our students have published six books of folklore that explore this history. Please visit El Jardin de Carrillo (Carrillo Gardens photo gallery) to learn more.

Tradition of Excellence

In 1981 Carrillo School was designated a Magnet School for neighborhood children and invited students from the extended community. Since that time the faculty has been recognized for a variety of educational achievements.
