AIMS Testing

Writing - Tues., Feb. 28
Reading - Weds., Feb 29

Catalina Magnet High School will administer the AIMS Writing test on Tuesday, February 28 and the AIMS Reading test on Wednesday, February 29. Students are required by state law to pass the Reading and Writing tests, as well as the Math test (to be administered on April 10th), to graduate from high school.

The following students will be taking the AIMS tests on February 28th and 29th:

  • All 10th graders
  • Any 11th or 12th grader who has not passed one (or both) of the sections of the test
  • Any 11th grader who is seeking to raise their score from “Meets” to “Exceeds” in order to meet one of the qualifications for a tuition waiver to the three Arizona state universities
The following students will not be taking the AIMS tests on February 28th and 29th:
  • All 9th graders
  • Any 11th or 12th grader who has passed both sections of the test and is not seeking to raise his score

Due to the large number of staff members needed to administer the AIMS tests, we will be operating on a modified schedule on these dates. Note that Wednesday, February 29th is NOT an early-out day. Classes will end at 2:34 p.m. on both Tuesday, February 28th and Wednesday, February 29th.

Any 9th grader who is on campus during the times devoted to testing and any 11th or 12th grader who is on campus and not testing must stay in Hines Gym. If students who are not testing do not wish to stay in Hines during testing, they must find their own means of getting to school after testing has concluded.

General information about the AIMS exams can be found here.

Please note that TUSD has adopted its 2012-2013 school calendar. The first day of school is Thursday, August 2, 2012.
