Doolen "Dress for Success" Uniform Policy

 DRESS CODE - For Approved Free Dress Days

Any student found in violation of the dress code will be sent home. The "Doolen Wear" guidelines apply to all school-related activities.

CHOICES FOR TOP GARMENT: A. Girls' Clothing Blouses can be sleeveless, short sleeves or long sleeves. Clothing must cover the midriff even when arms are extended overhead. A T-shirt with sleeves must be worn under tank tops and jerseys. B. Boys'Clothing A T-shirt with sleeves must be worn under tank tops and jerseys.

CHOICES FOR BOTTOM GARMENT: A. Girls' Clothing Skirts, culottes, dresses, and shorts must extend past fingertips when arms are extended at sides. They cannot be rolled past the point of the fingertips. B. Boys'Clothing Pants and shorts must be worn at the waist (No sagging). Military belts must have a plain buckle, and all belts must be secured in belt loops. C. Shoes Shoes must not be altered.

UNACCEPTABLE CLOTHING \ ITEMS: 1. See-through garments. 2. Clothing that reveals undergarments. 3. Altered clothing which violates the dress code. 4. Excessively form-fitting garments. 5. 8-balls on clothing. 6. Hats, hairnets, and bandanas. 7. Items or clothing which identify or signify illegal or racist organizations. 8. Outfits entirely of one color (all brown, all blue, all red, all maroon, all black). 9. Clothing which advertises sex, profanity, alcohol, tobacco, drugs or illegal organizations. 10. Stretch or bicycle shorts. 11. Sunglasses. 12. Wallet chains or chokers. 13. Remembrance T-shirts (In Memory of . . . ).

 

CODE OF CONDUCT

All students are expected to practice self-discipline and to use good judgement. It is the responsibility of each student to respect the rights of teachers, aides, monitors, volunteers, fellow students and all others who are involved in the educational process. No student has the right to interfere with the education of other students. The Discipline Referral Policy is posted in each classroom. Every teacher has behavioral expectations posted in the classroom according to TUSD policy.

DOOLEN'S EXPECTATIONS: Leadership Exhibit a positive attitude and contribute to improving school life. Service Work cheerfully and enthusiastically to render service to the school and community. Character Demonstrate the highest standards of honesty and reliability; show respect, courtesy, and concern for others; and observe and obey instructions, rules, and punctuality. Citizenship Demonstrate respect for all and use talents and skills to improve society. Scholarship Exhibit academic initiative, accept new challenges, and explore new horizons.

FIGHTING: Fighting on campus will result in automatic suspension and/or arrest. A mandatory mediation which may include parents must be attended before the parties involved will be allowed to return to class.

BICYCLES / SKATEBOARDS: Bicycles must be locked to the bike rack upon arrival at school. Bicycles, skateboards and In-line skates are not to be ridden on the school campus. Arizona law requires bicycle riders to wear helmets.

DISPLAYS OF AFFECTION: Displays of affection are considered inappropriate behavior on campus.

INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE OR SIGNS: Students must use appropriate language at all times. Students using or writing profane, obscene, vulgar or otherwise inappropriate language will be disciplined.

BUS PASSENGER RULES: Riding the bus is a privilege. Misbehavior on the school bus or at the bus stop may result in the loss of bus riding privileges. 1. Always comply with bus driver's or monitor's directions. 2. Use classroom voices only. No profanity, shouting or loud noises are allowed. 3. Remain seated at all times. 4. Keep hands, feet, and head inside the bus. All personal possessions must be secured. 5. Keep unauthorized materials and substances off the bus (snacks, drinks, animals, glass objects, weapons, skateboards, balloons, large radios, beepers, etc.).

SELLING ON CAMPUS: Food, candy, pencils, toys, etc. may NOT be sold except through school sponsored activities approved by Student Council.

SEXUAL HARASSMENT: Sexual harassment is against the law and will not be tolerated. A student who has been sexually harassed by anyone should contact a teacher, counselor or administrator.

NON-SCHOOL DIVERSIONS: Radios, tape players, cameras, electronic devices, beepers, toys, water pistols, and balloons, etc. are not to be brought to school. All non-school diversions will be confiscated and held in the office until parents retrieve the article. Gum is not allowed anywhere on campus or while riding the school bus. Consequences will include scraping gum off furniture and floors.

TELEPHONE / SODA MACHINES: These machines can only be accessed before and after school and during lunches.

VANDALISM: Any defacing or destruction of school property is considered vandalism. Students vandalizing our school will be suspended, prosecuted and will be required to pay for any necessary repairs.
