Drachman Library Mission Statement:

The Drachman School Library program ensures that students, staff and parents are effective users of information.   Specific programs include:

  •   learning experiences that incorporate literature and information strategies
  •   print and technological resources to support the curriculum and the diverse needs of the students, staff and parents
  •   flexible scheduling allowing students, parents and teachers unlimited access
  •   regular collaboration between classroom teachers and the teacher-librarian
  •   a huge selection of resources
  •   a hands-on student-focused research support
  •   small group critical thinking sessions

How does this look at Drachman:

  •   Teachers, the Teacher-Librarian and Instructional coach collaboratively plan lessons that support the classroom curriculum.
  •   Schedules are made on a flexible basis
  •   Students check books out on a daily basis before, during and after school (including lunch).
  •   Support for students working on independent research is provided at the point of need.
  •   The Frequent Reader Program is a voluntary program.
