FAQs
(Frequently Asked Questions)

Last updated:  01/25/2006 09:01:37 AM

  1. Question:
Will it all be done on the computer? When will we all have access to completing IEPs on the computer?

    Answer:
We expect that all IEPs will be done using the computerized system by the end of the year.

  2. Question:
Who will be the Exceptional Education Management System Trainers?

    Answer:
Teachers from Educational Technology paired with an Exceptional Education Compliance Technician will be the trainers.  Medicaid support staff will also train on the Service Capture Module.

  3. Question:
Will teachers have a space to put their e-mail address on the new forms?  Will parents?

    Answer:
At this time, teachers email addresses are not part of the forms. There will be space on the identifying information to put parent's email addresses.

  4. Question:
Is the system set-up to fill out the forms during the meeting or before hand?  How do the parents get a copy of the IEP if changes are made during the IEP to the handwritten or hard copy?  Is the information updating electronically to the EECT?

    Answer:
The system allows for three types of modes: DRAFT, REVIEW and FINAL.  IEP teams can prepare a draft of the IEP prior to the meeting.  Editing can occur during the DRAFT mode and REVIEW mode but once the FINAL mode has been chosen the IEP editing is stopped.  Teams should print out the DRAFT version and use at the meeting.  Changes can be made on the spot ON THE COMPUTER or ON THE HARD COPY DRAFT.  The written in changes can be typed in later, saved as “FINAL” and the final copy sent to the parent the next day.  The information is updated electronically for the EECT’s.

  5. Question:
So does this mean that we will have a computer and printer in the same room that we will be holding meeting with the parents?

    Answer:
Each school will need to problem solve at the site to allow IEP teams the ability to access printers.  Refer to question #4 for computer access options.

  6. Question:
Can we get a printer from Exceptional Education office?

    Answer:
We will need to look at the needs on a case by case basis.
Each school will need to problem solve at the site to allow IEP teams the ability to access printers.

  7. Question:
Can the forms (once completed) on students be saved and then edited from year to year?

    Answer:
    Yes
