Questions specific to SPED 5 can be accessed by clicking here.

  1. Question:
When will we learn to complete the new MET and how to use it with initial an initial placement?

    Answer:
Psychologists have been trained. Please ask for their assistance. If you are still unsure, contact your program specialist.  If none of the above works, ask for professional development.

  2. Question:
Are transitions evaluations required for seniors because of IDEIA or TUSD?

    Answer:
IDEIA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act)

  3. Question:
Why were several layers added to the process of moving kids from out of district to the appropriate self-contained placement?

    Answer:
The interim process is similar to last year.  This is a good question to bring to the action plan committee addressing policy and procedures.

  4. Question:
Will the SPED 3 have a section for exempting students from passing the AIMS?

    Answer:
These procedures are still in development. We are waiting for a definitive answer from the state.

  5. Question:
Procedural Safeguards!  What do we use and what are the procedures?

    Answer:
There are new procedural safeguards and they are available to be downloaded by going to the website: http://edweb.tusd.k12.az.us/exced/NewForms/d_all_forms.htm
They must be provided to parents one time per year; therefore, IEP teams must provide them at the annual review meeting.  If the annual IEP meeting has already been held, please send parents the updated copy of the procedural safeguards.  These will be printed and available in the warehouse shortly.
