Sample AMS DPA Assessment

Arizona law currently requires high school students pass the AIMS in order to graduate.  Elementary students need to take these tests to be sure that they are on track to pass when they get to high school.  They also need test-taking practice so they have the skills to get good scores when the stakes are high.  These tests also provide assurance that our schools are teaching the students the things they need to know.

The 6 TRAITS of Writing and Descriptions

Ideas and Content – Show what the writer knows.  Have a main idea and details to explain it.
Organization – Have a good beginning, middle and end.  Tell things in an order that makes sense.
Voice – Writing shows others what the author sees or feels.
Word Choice – Use clear and interesting words to describe ideas.
Sentence Fluency – Sentences sound good and make sense.
Conventions – Use standard, spelling, capital letters, punctuation and grammar.
