Welcome to the Fruchthendler Firebirds Website! You will find lots of interesting and useful information about Fruchthendler Elementary School here. Please let us know if you think of ways the website can be more useful to you.
Also, welcome to the 2011-2012 school year! We are very excited about all the students, staff, and parents who work hard to make Fruchthendler an A+ School of Excellence. There are many ways to be involved at school, so be sure to ask how you can be part of the team.
Fruchthendler continues to have a long tradition of excellence. The 2007-2008 school year brought The A+ School of Excellence Award, showcasing our exceptionally high level of school, family, and community partnerships that extend beyond traditional participation to a more intense, personal, and proactive commitment to student learning (very active PTA, successful parent volunteer program); emphasis on academics; conscientious stewardship of the environment (Wildlife Refuge, Stone Soup Garden, REAP/energy conservation); technology as a seamless part of our instruction (SMART Boards in every classroom, 32-station HP-Compaq lab); Spanish instruction; P.E. instruction; OMA(Opening Minds Through the Arts) – an arts-integrated program to support student achievement in reading, writing, math, and social studies.
OMA (Opening Minds Through the Arts) is an arts-infused curriculum that has been developed for each grade level which is linked to state curriculum standards in core subject areas. Community artists (musicians, opera, dance) work in collaboration with classroom teachers to design and implement lessons which support and extend learning through this arts-integration program.
There are many ways for you to communicate with us. Our address, phone numbers, and email addresses are all listed here on the website. The Fruchthendler Site Council meets quarterly to discuss, support, decide, and communicate school policy. Meetings are listed in the School Newsletter and posted on the marquee. The Fruchthendler PTA meets monthly and provides solid support for the students and staff. We look forward to hearing from you regarding anything that can help us continue to thrive as an excellent school!
Have a great year!
