Art Enrichment
This committee is comprised of parents who bring fine arts lessons and projects into each classroom, as coordinated with the class teacher.
A brief lesson is typically presented and the kids are then led through a specific art project. Lesson plans are readily available and easy to follow. At least 2-3 parents per classroom are needed.

Art Show
Fruchthendler holds an annual Art Show in the spring, usually March or April, as a formal cultural evening.  Students, faculty, and staff are invited to submit their personal works of art for display.  The evening includes light refreshments.  Volunteer Jobs: help with setting up and pasting the artwork on the presentation board a few days before the event, help with set-up the evening of the event, and help with clean-up after the event.  Volunteers will be contacted in March.

AZ Tax Credit
Volunteers are needed to help stuff & label envelopes to solicit AZ Tax Credit contributions from the community, promote the tax credit program at school; also volunteers are needed to distribute informational e-mails as needed.

Book Fair
This is an annual fundraiser that raises funds and we receive credit for books for our school library. It typically runs a whole week during school hours. It is usually held once in the fall and once in the spring: Volunteer Jobs: setting up books prior to the fair, break down, and ringing up purchases on the cash register.

Box tops/Soup Labels/Special Programs
We need volunteers to count, package, and send off the General Mills Box Tops and Campbell’s Soup Labels collected through the school.
Also a volunteer to educate the PTA membership about the other special programs
available to benefit our school. This is an ideal job for someone who wants to volunteer time by working at home.

Chess Club
Volunteers to assist with the chess club before and after school throughout the year. Commitment is year long. Responsibilities: set up;
clean up, any tracking of students, and awards at the end of the year.

Copy Person
There are many copy jobs that need to be done to assist with Firebird folders, classroom distributions, and other periodic fliers and
information that need to be copied and distributed to each classroom.

Clothing Bank
Fruchthendler collects used clothing for the Community Clothing Bank on a continual basis.  Volunteers are needed to maintain the drop-off box and to deliver accumulated clothing to the Community Bank.

Fall Carnival
The Fall Carnival is our biggest event of the year and the Silent Auction held in conjunction, one of our two important fundraisers of the year.  It is usually held late October.  There are games, climbing towers, obstacle courses, and great food.  Many volunteers are needed to make the carnival successful:
Set-up Crew, Food prep and serving, Game Stations, Ticket sales, Cake spin, Clean-up Crew etc

Families Helping Families
This is an annual holiday program in which Fruchthendler sponsors needy families who are not otherwise helped by social agencies.  Each classroom is assigned 1-2 families to sponsor.  A school-wide collection of gifts, gently used clothing and non perishable food items is organized and delivered to the families mid-December.  Volunteer jobs: organize gifts, food and clothing delivery, and making the actual deliveries to the families.  Committee Chairs will send out information and dates so be looking  for that.

Fifth Grade Party/Promotion
This committee plans and puts on the Fifth Grade end of the year party. It typically includes lunch, games & activities for the fifth graders. It is held on the day before the Fifth Grade Promotion Ceremony. Volunteer parents from the fifth grade classes are needed to help run the lunch and activities, and fourth grade parent volunteers are asked to help the day of graduation serving light refreshments.

Fun Run
The annual Fun Run is a family fitness event held in March during Health awareness month. A 1-mile & 5K fun walk/run are marked
around the Fruchthendler neighborhood for a Saturday morning. The event culminates with bagels and drinks for all participants and
volunteers. We need help to mark the path, get timing equipment, and organize the post walk/run refreshments.

Milers’ Club
This program encourages physical fitness as kids walk the back playground perimeter during lunch time and get credit for their laps.  Parents are needed to hand out and punch cards during the kid’s lunch hours.

Parents On Patrol (POP)
This is a program designed to ensure safety for all children on the playground before school and during lunch periods. Volunteers need to commit to a morning or lunchtime shift. The duration for the school year will be directed by Mr. Heidel and PTA. Additionally, the POP will assist with monitoring the crosswalk on Lodge. Volunteers are needed, and asked to donate 20-30 minutes of their time to help supervise students arriving and departing from school on Lodge. All POP volunteers wear green vests so they are easily identifiable. We would like to ensure that our children are safe and your help is greatly appreciated. Plus you get to enjoy our children at play and ensure
safety for all.

Rodeo Breakfast
This annual breakfast is held the Wed. before Rodeo Break in February.  It is a PTA sponsored event that is a social breakfast.  This is not a PTA Fundraiser.  Volunteer jobs: Pick up food, some decorating, serving and clean up.  Look for information from your committee chair to coordinate jobs.

Room Parent
Each classroom parent(s) to volunteer in this position; will help the teacher organize class activities such as parties, field trips, and any other teacher needs.   Room parents are also in charge of stuffing the Firebird folders for the students in their class.

Safe Routes to School
This program is directed at making the walk to school along Cloud Rd. safer for our children by encouraging walking, bicycling, carpooling, and bus riding to reduce traffic congestion around the school.  Various promotions are held throughout the year to encourage this and volunteers are needed to help run the program.

Safety Net
This group of volunteers serves as additional “eyes and ears” on the school grounds before and after school, increasing the safety of our students.  Volunteers are asked to donate 20-30 minutes of their time to help supervise students as they arrive or are picked up from school monitoring the crosswalk on Lodge.  Volunteers wear green vests so they are easily identifiable.

School Directory
The PTA puts together a school directory with phone numbers of all people who wish to be included.  Directories will be available as one of the benefits of a full PTA membership.  It will not be available for sale or distribution to anyone from our school or outside our school who is not a paid PTA member.  Volunteers are needed to help with computer database input, printing, collating and distribution.

Science Fair
The school science fair is held in January/February.  All students are invited to submit a Science Fair project for judging.  12 winning projects will be selected to represent our school at SARSEF(Southern Arizona Regional Science and Engineering Fair) held at TCC exhibition hall in March.  Volunteers are needed to help with classroom informational presentations to show kids how to go about doing a science fair project, help with signing in and setting up projects on the due date, help during public viewing, judging projects (if you have a science or  engineering background).  Volunteers are contacted in December.

Silent Auction
The silent auction is held in the fall.  This event is one of our most important fundraisers.  Volunteers are needed to solicit donations, help set up auction tables and run the auction.  It is typically held in conjunction with the fall carnival. 

Spell A Thon
This is a PTA fundraiser, which will promote spelling achievement, but first and foremost raise money for our school.  Volunteers are needed to help organize the event, grade classroom spelling tests, keep track of pledge money and distribute prizes.  Volunteers will be contacted in August.

Spelling Bee
Not to be confused with the Spell A Thon.  This is held in December-January.  There are two bees, one for grades 3-5, and one for K-2.  There are practice sessions, and the bees are held in the evening.  Volunteers are needed to give spelling bee tests to classrooms to select class representatives and alternates, help with practice sessions, and help the evening of each spelling bee.  Volunteers will be contacted in December.

Talent Show

Our annual Talent Show needs more parent input! The more people that volunteer for the talent show, the easier the job. Help is needed
with organizing, decorating, and stage management, break down/clean up. Talent show is usually held in early May. Volunteers will be
contacted by April.

Yearbook
Each year Fruchthendler puts together an outstanding yearbook with class pictures/pages, club photos, and a memorable fifth grade section.  Volunteers are needed to be class photographers, as well as collecting other photos from classroom parents.  Also they will be in charge of the layout of their class page.  Yearbook meetings start right after school starts, and all pictures are due by January.
