Peter Howell Elementary opened it's doors in September of 1950. The school was named after Peter Howell who was a community leader, businessman and school board member for Tucson Unified School District. He was very involved in making Tucson a great place for living and learning. His practices and beliefs embody what Peter Howell Elementary represents today. Peter Howell was originally named Longfellow School, named after a nearby street.
