Townsend Middle School Library FAQ's Table of Contents
Hours and contact informationDaily 8:15-4 Ms. Jennifer Mullet, M.A., Teacher-Librarian, jennifer.mullet@tusd1.org Ms. Ruth Argraves, Library Assistant, ruth.argraves@tusd1.org Phone: 520-232-7924 Back to TopWho can check out materials? All members of the Townsend Middle School community, including students, family members, and staff. Students are encouraged to use their student ID's to check out, which will make the procedure faster and more accurate. Back to TopHow many?Up to five books at a time. Reference materials may not be checked out, however you may get pages copied in the library. Back to TopHow long?Materials may be checked out for two weeks (ten school days) and may be renewed twice if needed. Back to TopHandling/responsibilityYour library book is your responsibility. Do not leave it in your classroom or loan it to a friend. Teachers: Please consider locking up your library materials before you leave the building, or taking them home. Unexpected absences can lead to missing materials which you are responsible for. The library will NOT check out to a student or substitute in your name unless a signed, written request is provided (email is acceptable). Back to TopOverduesIt is very important to return or renew your books on time. If you have an overdue, you may not check out any additional books. Students will not be able to attend social events or participate in other fun activities if they have an overdue book. No fines once the book is returned. Back to TopLost book/fineIf you lose or damage any library material, come talk to the librarian and arrange to pay for it, replace it, or work off your fine. All fines to be paid must be paid directly to adult library staff, who will give you a receipt and clear your account. Before first period with a morning pass is the best time to do this. Back to TopStudents To check your library account: Check back soon for this info Back to TopPassesTeachers may send up to five students with individual passes to work in the library at any time. Passes need to be timed, signed, and dated (it is very important these are filled out correctly so students are legitimate). Teachers must come with their class during 5th and 6th period, as the library assistant is not certified and librarian will be teaching/ planning at this time. Students without correctly filled out passes will be sent back to their classroom. Back to TopLunch and morning passesForty passes are available on a first-come, first served basis every morning and each lunch hour (passes may be canceled if collaborative project demands). There are rules posted on each pass; this privilege will be taken from any student not following these rules. Eat first! You must stay in the library until the next hour bell rings. Back to TopClassesTeachers may bring their whole class to the library at any time by signing up with the librarian. Call, stop in, or email any time. Think about what objectives you would like to cover and what you want the students to learn. Come to the librarian with those ideas and let's collaborate for a spectacular lesson or unit! Back to TopPrintingStudents must ask permission before they print anything. Unless it is original work, sources must be cited before you print (Townsend Library supports copyright laws). See Citation Guide for examples of citations. Back to TopGumNever! Students chewing gum (or any food/drink) in the library will be sent back to class for the remainder of the period. Back to TopDisruptiveDisruptive patrons will be sent back to class. Back to TopCopiesThe library copier was purchased with library money to make copies of reference material which cannot be checked out. Teachers who need 5 or less copies and bring their own paper may do so on the library copier. If you need more than that or it is important (a working copier is never guaranteed), please plan ahead and fill out a copy request in the workroom. We are on an annual contract, and get charged outrageous amounts when we "go over the minutes in our plan." Thank you for your understanding. Back to TopJennifer Mullet, M.A., NBCT
