CATEGORY INFORMATION
Science Notebook The science notebook is a critical part of the science experience.  You will need to record questions, hypotheses, data and observations, and conclusions in your science notebook.  This notebook will document what you do in your lab experiences and serve as a tool for final exams and quarterly projects.  Click on the box to the far left to go to science notebook rubric.
Quizzes and Exams There will be weekly quizzes in class.  Some will be open notes, others will be closed notes.  Quizzes will cover the material learned during a one-week period and may include important information from previous quizzes.  You will also have a final exam at the end of each quarter.  This exam will cover material from the entire quarter.  We will always have a review day prior to the final exam.  It is highly recommended that you take notes during the review to ensure your success.
Participation Your participation grade is based on TWO main items:

The first is the weekly fast five.  When you come into class, your immediate job is to take out your fast five sheet, copy the information/question from the board and work on it independently for the first few minutes of class.

The second is daily participation.  For each day you are present (or have an excused absence and make-up the work assigned) you will be given 1 participation point.  If you are benched from a lab you will not receive the day's point.

Homework You have regular homework.  After we have completed a lab or investigation you need to take your science notebook home and write a conclusion and reflection.  We will always discuss/debrief a lab/investigation before homework is check so be sure to pay attention to class discussions as they will help you with your homework.

NO LATE HOMEWORK WILL BE ACCEPTED!

Quarterly Projects Each unit you will have a major project that will incorporate the ideas learned during the unit.  Some projects will be completed in class, some at home, others will require that you do work both in class and at home.  Most projects will be collaborative (group) and part of the grade will be based upon how well you work as a team.  This is a major part of your grade and should be taken seriously.
