 Important Events this week-

The third Progress report will be given on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week

Note:  Due to district writing assessment and the semester tests in reading and math for the district, I have extended the due date for the book report in poetry form.  Instead of it being due December 13th, it is due December 17th when your son/daughter is in my class.  I won't take the reports late.

GRADES HAVE BEEN POSTED.  IF YOUR SON/DAUGHTER HASN'T DONE THE WORK ..or hasn't turned in their score - IT IS A BLANK SPACE. Students were instructed to come in, during lunchtime, and make up the work.  I have a special pass for them to use to spend lunch study time with me!

REMEMBER:  Students are working on their book report as homework.  They have had seven (7) weeks to work on this creative approach.  They are creating a book report that is made up entirely of poems.  Students were given poetry directions in class and then they had to write the poetry form as homework.  Now we are at the collecting them all together part of the project.  I continue to have a copy of all of of the forms, with examples, in my room.

If you want to look up these types on the internet,  here are their names:

Acrostic    Haiku    Waka Tanka        Free Verse    Inside This

Pantoum    Five Senses    Cinquain    Bio Poem

Remember:  They are writing poetry about their book.  Please look at the due date handout that tells you what literary portion their poem must address:  Title, Author's Name, Plot, Conflict, major and minor characters, Setting, Resolution, etc.

I expect all of my students to have a spiral notebook they use in this class.  Every student was given one  on the 2nd of August.  This notebook must be with them every day.  It will become their study guide for upcoming tests.

Period 1= red      Period 2= yellow    Period 4 = green   Period 5= black Period 6 = blue

Please read the  information ( in green)  on my homepage regarding make-up tests.

Any student who fails a test, or does not do well on a homework assignment, should come in for extra help during lunchtime.  I re-teach the concepts in a different way...hopefully the student will  comprehend the Performance objective and raise his/he score.   Students must come in and take notes on short videos if they are absent on that day. *

Let me tell you all what a thrill it is to be your son's/daughter's Language Arts teacher this  year.

  * My planning period is Period 3

*  Please call me at 232-7963 to set up a conference meeting.
