Enrichment Program

The Miles’ Enrichment program offers a variety of fun classes for 1 hour each day after school. The classes run 14 weeks each, and tuition is $75 - $80, depending on the class. Payment can be made all at once, or you can pay in 3 different installments during the semester. Currently we are offering Gardening, Fitness, ASL (American Sign Language), Ballet, Chess, and Capoeira. Enrichment Class Descriptions For Spring 2013

Mon 3:10- 4:10 – Cheerleading Club with Molly Knipe (Grades 3–5) Learn the basics of Cheer & Pom in a fun and supportive environment! We will explore many Cheer forms from wrestling Cheer(mat Maids) to Pom dance routines. There will be a performance at the end of the semester. THIS WILL BE VERY SAFE, NO STUNTS OR PYRAMIDS. $85.00

Mon 3:10 – 4:10 – Beginning Spanish with Sandy Molera (Grades 1–5) Class emphasizes vocabulary, acquisition and simple sentence construction through games and hands-on fun activities $85.00

Tues 3:10 – 4:10 – ASL ll with Latrina Harris (All ages, including parents) This class is geared toward students and/or parents who already have some experience with American Sign Language and the deaf culture. $85.00

Tues 3:10 – 4:10 – Gardening with Mike Amundson (Grades K–5) Develop a love for gardening and art while learning about the environment, biology and nutrition through various garden/art activities. $95.00 ($10 materials fee included) PREFERENCE GIVEN TO STUDENTS WHO DID NOT HAVE THE FIRST SEMEMSTER CLASS.

Wed 12:30 – 2:00 – Arts & Crafts with Judy Ember (Grades K–5) Come join the fun and let’s have a good time making arts & crafts. We will be using anything and everything to create works of art. $140.00 ($10 materials fee included) (Note: this class is 1 ½ hrs, so that is why the price is higher)

Wed 12:30 – 1:30 – Chess with Chris Vera (Grades 2–5) Learn to play chess while having fun, learning good sportsmanship, practice games and make new friends. $85.00 PREFERENCE GIVEN TO STUDENTS WHO DID NOT HAVE THE FIRST SEMESTER CLASS.

Wed 12:30 – 2:00 – Poi Art with Racheal Rios (Grades 2–5) Poi refers to both a style of performance & the tools/props used for it. This activity will include swinging rolled up socks on shoe strings to create rhythmical and geometric patterns. Come learn the basic steps of spinning poi and work as a team to write a routine that will be performed at the end of the semester. $130.00 (Note: this class is 1 ½ hrs, so that is why the price is so much)

Thurs 3:10 – 4:10 – Games & Social Skills with Judy Ember (Grades K–2) Enjoy playing games, learning social skills and having fun all at the same time. There will be board games, card games and friendship games. $85.00

Thurs 3:10 – 4:40 – Homework Club/ Math Help with Sam Sims, Cyndie Drye and Chris Vera (Grades 3–8) Need some teacher led math skills support or homework help, then this is a great opportunity for you. Learn some new techniques and study skills. $130.00 (Note: this class is 1 ½ hrs., so that is why the price is higher)
