Message from the Principal

Welcome to the 2016-17 School Year!

 Dear Miller community,

Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year!  We are so excited to begin another great year with our new and returning Miller Mustangs.  I strongly believe that parents, teachers, support staff, community and administration all play a role in helping students exceed expectations.   If we work together we can create productive successful students.  I look forward to our collaboration as we embark in new ideas and opportunities for our students.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

Here is a look at what we have going on in August:

The first day of school is Thursday August 4, 2016.  If you will be dropping off your student, please make sure you drop them off at the designated drop off area, not the flag pole.  The bell will ring promptly at 8:20 am.  Class lists will be printed and displayed in the courtyard.  There will be staff available to help parents and students find their classrooms.  In case of a rainy morning, please be aware that the playground my be muddy.  All students should report to the cafeteria and teachers will pick up students from there.

**STREET DETOUR ON CAMINO DE LA TIERRA-   Please plan on taking an alternative route instead of Camino de la Tierra until August 12th.  If you will be taking the Camino de la Tierra detour, please adjust your time accordingly so students can get to their classes on time.***

August brings us Open House (August 9th 5:00pm to 6:30 pm)  , Title 1 parent workshops, Miller Morning family informational meetings and PTO (Parent-Teacher Organization) meetings.

The S.A.F.E. Program will no longer be available at Miller.  There will be an after school program through KIDCO (Tucson Parks and Rec.) but there will not be a morning program.  The KIDCO program will begin August 4th and run form 2:15 pm - 6:00 pm.  Please register at
https://online.activenetwork.com/Tucson/Start/Start.asp or call 791-4877.

Please remember, if your child is a current Miller student, you do not need to attend registration.  Registration packets will be sent home the first week of school for current students.     **If your child will not be returning to Miller, please notify the front office as soon as possible.**

Teachers will be sending home monthly newsletters about their classroom.  This will provide you with "Up to the minute" information regarding both classroom and school news.  Be sure to also click on the newsletter section of our homepage to see a copy of the school's monthly newsletter.

Let's have a great school year!

Sincerely,

Maricella Carranza, Principal
