Message from the Principal

Welcome to the 2015-16 School Year!

 Dear Miller community,

Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year!  It is with great excitement that I am returning as a Miller Mustang.  I am truly honored to have been appointed as the new Principal and I am looking forward to my new role.

I was born and raised in Tucson and I am a proud product of TUSD.  I grew up in a household of educators, so early on, I knew I was going to go to the University of Arizona and become an educator as well.  I received my degree in Elementary Education from the U of A and a few years later, I continued my education at Northern Arizona University and received my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership.  I have spent my career as an Elementary and Middle School teacher as well as a Learning Supports Coordinator where I have worked with diverse student populations and communities.

I strongly believe that parents, teachers, support staff, community and administration all play a role in helping students exceed expectations.   If we work together we can create productive successful students.  I look forward to our collaboration as we embark in new ideas and opportunities for our students.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.  Here is a look at what we have going on in August:

We are so excited to begin another great year with our new and returning Miller Mustangs.

Our district leadership has worked diligently over the last year and summer to provide us with a district-wide curriculum so all schools will be receiving the best education.  We will continue to follow the Arizona Common Core Standards and TUSD curriculum.

This year also brings us new staff and changes to positions at Miller.  We have Ms. Ouellet (3rd and 4th ELD teacher), Mr. Lange (4th Grade teacher), Mr. Crowley (5th grade teacher), and Ms. Lord (Exceptional Education teacher).  We are very proud to call them Mustangs!  If you have not had the opportunity to stop in and meet them, please feel free to do so.  It is our partnership with students and families that will make us successful throughout the year.

August brings us Open House, Title 1 parent workshops, Miller Morning family informational meetings and PTO (Parent-Teacher Organization) meetings.

Teachers will be sending home monthly newsletters about their classroom.  This will provide you with "Up to the minute" information regarding both classroom and school news.  Be sure to also click on the newsletter section of our homepage to see a copy of the school's monthly newsletter.

Let's have a great school year!

Sincerely,

Maricella Carranza, Principal
