There will be a number of homework assignments this
year scheduled throughout the various units. However,
the standard science homework due month is as follows:
- Learn unit vocabulary words, usually
given out a week at a time, and complete the related
assignment instructions on the vocabulary word sheet.
- If you've done poorly on an assignment, it is possible
to earn 'booster points' by taking EACH
of the 10 vocabulary words from the
vocabulary word sheet and use each correctly in
TWO SENTENCES.
Examples:
"The scientist made an observation
about the volcano."
"During the experiment, my
observations were
recorded."
"I made an inference
that Marsha and Raphael were siblings because they look so much
alike."
"My mother made an inference
that it had rained because the ground was wet when we returned
home."
- TWO monthly Science Article Reviews,
should be content related.
a. Select
ONE
of the science articles that we've reviewed in class.
b. Take
notes while reading your article, like we did in class
c.
Do a 3-2-1 Review of article, like
we did in class
3 things you learned
2 questions you have
1 paragraph summary (at least 10 sentences). This
can be completed on one of the formal 3-2-1 forms, or on just a
blank sheet of notebook paper.
* Late article reviews are accepted up until a week after
the class has completed that particular unit. (For
example, please don't turn in a Fall article review on Earth
History in the Spring when the class is covering the Astronomy
unit).
* You're being graded on the content and ability to
demonstrate what you've
learned from the article. Nevertheless, please try to use your
best language arts skills.
* We will be solving a math equation daily
during bell work.
This equation will be science related. Scientists need math !
