We are very excited about becoming Mary Louise Robins K-8. We have excellent teachers for your children who will empower them in their learning and support them in their development toward adolescence. Real world, project based learning activities will provide the learning focus, and to begin with, Junior Achievement and Camp Cooper will be vehicles for that goal. Students will also have the opportunity to work toward membership in the National Junior Honors Society. The full arts program of band, orchestra, and visual arts along with electives that will encourage students to explore other interests such as theater arts, cooking, robotics, or debate. The choices will be based on what the students are most interested in and then curriculum will be developed from there. In addition, we will offer the same sports as other middle schools: volleyball, basketball, soccer and track. We are adding technology to the 6th, 7th and future 8th grade classrooms, reconfiguring the space of the east wing grounds, and adding project space where students can work collaboratively as 21st century learners.
Here are more details about our metamorphosis into a K-8th school!
We are also becoming a Gifted and Talented (GATE) Cluster school. Read this to understand this exciting educational model. GATE Cluster
We need parents to sit on the Robins Site Council for two year and one year terms. The site council decides budget issues and tax credit expenditures. They are also involved in important decisions such as moving to the K-8 model. Email Mrs. Minno if you are interested and willing Elizabeth.Minno@tusd1.org. We meet on the second Monday of the month at 4:15.
