William Howard Taft was born in Cincinnati Ohio, on September 15, 1857. He was from a unique family which had long roots that went back to the 17th century. His family were settlers of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Alfonso Taft, Howard's dad, was a judge. William was a great student and listener, he graduated second in his class from Yale College in 1878. He returned to his home town Cincinnati and became a lawyer. He was a big man, he weighed more than 300 pounds (135 kilograms), but he was a good man at heart, sweet, loyal, true and friendly. His open mind help him be a great and successful lawyer. William Howard Taft was a great man for his time that's why I think that this report is going to be worth writing just like the other report I have done. Before William Taft became president his goal was to be a student in law and work for the Supreme court as a lawyer, but soon got involved in politics. Four years later Taft lost the reelection for President in 1912 and went back to being Chief Justice of the United states. When Taft was elected President he tried to follow the steps of the "Hard Rider", Theodore Roosevelt, by promising to make this country great, but failed to finish what Roosevelt had started. Taft didn't whant to be president, but his family, especially his wife Helen Herron Taft, Who he married in 1886, asked and botherd him to run when Roosevelt was running too. This was a bad move. The stressing pressure of the White House made him feel down and sad. One of his two problems that he had was that he spent to much time in the golf course, and the other problem was that he complained about his work like saying "This work makes me rush my meals and forego afternoon naps." He quit wasn't a speech person, and when he had to make a speech they were old or dull. Most of the time his decisions were made by others. One critic called him "an amiable island completely surrounded by men who know exactly what they want."
