Does my child have homework?

How Much Homework?
Students who work steadily in class can usually count on homework about one evening a week. When projects are due at the end of the quarters they may experience more homework time.

Projects: 7th Grade students will complete one large project per quarter with the addition of many smaller projects throughout. Students will have some personal choice on selecting projects. Each project has a rubric that clearly states how it is going to be graded.

Late/Missing Homework Policy: (without an absence or acceptable excuse)
      Late assignments and projects will always be accepted for some credit. Some points are always better than no points.
      The later the assignment is turned in the fewer points it will be worth. I usually drop the assignment around 10% every few days.

Absent Policy:
If a student has been absent, he/she must check the “Absent Folder” for any missed activities, assignments, and/or projects. The student must then check with other students for additional instructions. After a student has checked the Absent Folder and has checked with other students, they may see the teacher for additional instructions, explanations, or materials. Furthermore, they should write “absent” on their daily bellwork sheet in order to not lose points for the absence. Students will be allowed a reasonable amount of time (usually a couple days) to make up assignments until the assignment is considered late.
