Dear PTSC Members,

The 8^th annual GET SWEET! event will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2008, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Tucson High Magnet School. This event showcases the talent of our students and raises money to support a wide variety of fine and performing arts programs as well as any groups or clubs who decide to participate in the sale of student-created art.

The Parent-Teacher-Student-Community (PTSC) organization sponsors this event. Half of the total proceeds from admission fees and dessert sales are divided equally among the participating student groups. The remaining half goes to the PTSC treasury for ongoing school improvement projects and operating expenses. The proceeds from student art sales are divided between the artist and the group or club, depending on how they have set it up.

Be a Collaborator

Each year we ask the parents/guardians of participating students to contribute desserts. Even if you do not have a child performing this year, your contributions are very welcome! (Homemade desserts sell the best, but we will gladly accept purchased desserts.)

Please let us know what dessert you will bring and if you are able to assist with the event by e-mailing getsweet@mac.com or sending a note to school with your student.

Desserts may be dropped off at the school at the following times:

Friday, February 8

7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, at the Badger Room (across from the school library, Main Building).

Saturday, February 9

10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at the Badger Room.

Saturday, February 9

6:00 PM. to the time you arrive for the event!

If you are not much of a baker, we also need volunteers to help set up all the beautiful decorations on Saturday morning, February 9, from 10:00 AM to noon. Come join the fun!

In addition, you can help by volunteering to serve desserts and beverages on the night of GET SWEET! If you can help in this way, please contact Charlotte Castro at 419-7973 or charlotte.castro@tusd1.org to sign up for a shift.

(We’re asking the parents/guardians of participating students to volunteer an hour before or after your student’s performance.)

This is a wonderful way to support many of the excellent programs that help make THMS such a rich and diverse environment for all of us.

Spread the word! Tell other parents about GET SWEET!

Be sure to invite your family and friends (and don’t forget to bring your Sweetie!) to this very enjoyable collaborative evening of impressive entertainment—and the opportunity to purchase unusual and striking artwork and delectable sweet treats!
