Burger King Scholarship Program Deadline: December 15, 2008, For High school seniors planning on enrolling in a 2 or 4 year college or vocational school. ADEQ Arizona Recycling Scholarship Program Deadline: January TBA award amount: $1,000. Offers high school seniors the opportunity to earn money for college while helping Arizona's environment. Students must submit a project application describing a school or recycling or waste reduction program that they will implement during the month of March 2007. Gary P Durrenberger Memorial Scholarship Deadline: January 2009 Two scholarships of up to $2,000 for seniors, renewable each year provided a GPA of 3.0 and full time status is maintained. Applicants should be respected by their peers, teachers, coaches, and employers; have financial need; a GPA of 2.75; and aspire to make the world a better place. Application in the PSRC-Main.
Valley Foundation Scholarship Deadline: March 2009 For seniors who have not earned the highest GPA and who are experiencing financial difficulties. A good citizen record is important with participation in school activities, community service and/or employment. FLINN scholars Deadline: October 24, 2008 High-achieving Arizona high school seniors are encouraged to apply for the 2008 Flinn Scholarship, a four-year award to an Arizona public university valued at more than $50,000. In addition to covering virtually all expenses, the package includes study-travel opportunities abroad, faculty mentorship, invitations to cultural and academic events, and other benefits. Applicants must be Arizona residents and have a minimum 3.5 grade point average, a ranking in the top 5 percent of the graduating class, a minimum score of 29 on the ACT or 1280 on the SAT I (critical reading and math sections only), and demonstrated leadership in school and community activities. A link to the application will be posted on their web site from August 28, 2008 until the submission deadline of October 24, 2008. The entire application process--including biographical data, academic and extracurricular information, essays, and letters of reference from counselors and teachers--is completed and submitted online.
U of A Alumni Association Scholarship for seniors who are planning to enroll at the U of A. Must have a 3.2+ GPA, resume, leadership emphasis. See Dr. O for an application.
U of A Tucson Alumni Volunteer Scholarship Deadline: December 2008 award amount $1,000. Ten scholarships awarded to seniors planning going to the U of A based on coursework and GPA (3.2 or higher), leadership involvement, extracurricular activities, and verbal and written communication skills. See Dr. Ostroff for application.
The University of Arizona Baird Scholarship Deadline for consideration September 2009. One senior will be nominated by THMS for this prestigious $10,000 award by the Honor's College. Renewable by maintaining a 3.2 GPA. Must have strong leadership qualities. Submit your Student Information sheet (available in the PSRC-M) to be considered for nomination by THMS. Very early deadline see Dr Ostroff in September if you are interested.
Community Foundation General Scholarship Awards Deadline: February 2009 - Award amount varies $500-$1500, renewable. Multiple scholarships you can apply for by completing the general scholarship application form (check for additional requirements when you fill out the form). Must be a senior, planning on attending a 2 or 4 year college or university in Arizona and are in financial need. Preference given to students NOT graduating in the top 10% of their class. Application is on line at http://www.cfsoaz.org Application must be mailed or hand delivered.
Dorrance Scholarship Program Deadline: February 2009 - Award amount $9,000, U of A, NAU, ASU only. Available to graduating seniors who are the first in their family to attend a four year college. Must have 3.0 GPA or better, 1040 SAT or 22 ACT score, demonstrate financial need - must complete the FAFSA, have been accepted to one of Arizona's state universities, and demonstrate leadership and community service. KFC Colonel's Scholarship Deadline: February 2009 - Award amount up to $5,000 for a public college or university in Arizona. Awarded to outstanding seniors with financial need and entrepreneurial spirit. Must be enrolling in a state school of their legal residence, must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, have a GPA of 2.75 or higher, and plan on pursuing a bachelor's degree. Gamma Alpha Omega White Rose Scholarship for Outstanding Female Seniors Deadline: March 2009 - Awarded to outstanding female seniors planning on going to the U of A. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and have been accepted to the U of A. Application requires the application form, two signed and sealed letters of recommendation from school personnel, an official high school transcript, and a 1-2 page personal statement. U of A Black Alumni Scholarship Deadline: December 2008 Award is a renewable tuition waiver of a one-time cash award and or book scholarship for the U of A only. Selection is based on financial need and other factors such as academic performance. Requirements include Arizona residency, and a demonstrated commitment to the African American community, community service on and off campus within the African American community. A one page personal statement on the topic, "Has the African American neighborhood vanished? What are the effects of gentrification?"
U of A Hispanic Alumni Scholarship Deadline : December 2008 Award is $500- $4,500 renewable for the U of A only. Available to seniors who have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Hispanic community including those of Hispanic origin. Requirements include Arizona residency and plans to attend the U of A as well as financial need (you must fill out the FAFSA beginning January 1, 2009). Cesar Chavez Scholarships - Deadline: March 2009 Award is $3,000 from the U of A College of Humanities . Available to seniors who are admitted to the U of A, major in humanities (languages, creative writing, Africana studies, East Asian studies, religious studies, etc.), are first generation college student, and have a GPA of 3.0 or better with a demonstrated public service commitment. Tucson Center for Cultural Enrichment Deadline: March 2009 Six scholarships to the University of Arizona and Pima College in the amount of $2,000. Seniors must major in Environmental Tech, Optics, Aerospace, Bioindustry, IT (information technology), or Advanced Materials at the U of A, or any major at Pima, and have a GPA of 2.5 or better. Arizona State University Advantage - A financial aid program designed to assist low income families ($25,000 or less on the FAFSA). Students must plan on attending and graduating from ASU with a bachelor's degree. ASU covers direct costs through a combination of financial aid resources that do not require repayment. ASU Leadership Scholarship Program (LSP) Deadline December 2008. $8000 annual renewable for eight total semesters. Award may be used for tuition, fees, housing, and other educational expenses. Violet Richardson Award Honoring Young Women for Volunteer Action Deadline: December 2008 Type of award varies and the program begins at the local Soroptimist club level. Club level winners then become eligible for $1000 awards. The scholarship is for women 14-17 who have demonstrated initiative in identifying a problem and trying to solve it as well as those with noteworthy accomplishments as volunteers. The National Association for Secondary School Principals and Herff Jones Leadership Award Deadline: November 2008 100 scholarships of $1,000 available to seniors.
