Text Box: What does it mean to “step up?” When is it right to “step up” and get help?

Think about a time when you have seen something happening that you knew was wrong…when you observed someone you know being hurt or frightened…when you learned about something that made you worry for a friend.

Here at Townsend we focus on respect, and part of that focus is taking care of each other; respect for people. If you know something needs to be shared, or if you know someone is hurting--then the respectful thing to do is “step up” and get the help of an adult.

The adults on campus are here to “step up” for you. This is also true of the parents and community members around the school. Remember that from the moment you leave home until the moment you return after school, you are a Townsend Tiger. You are not only responsible for demonstrating respect; you are worthy of receiving it. This holds true whether you are on the bus, at the convenience store, or walking home.

Take care of each other. “Step up” when you know you need to. It’s all part of respect.
