Townsend Chronicles

from Ms. Kohl… Who are we? Townsend has had a long, proud history of excellence in competition; not only on the courts, tracks, and fields, but in various other arenas such as classrooms, auditoriums, and stages.
I invite you to walk through our hallways and look at the trophies on display and the team pictures on the walls. Clearly, our Tigers have a lot to be proud of.
Who are the Townsend Tigers? How did we become “winners” in competition? The winner is not only the one who attains the victory. The winner is also the player who conducts him or herself with honor no matter what the outcome. The winner is the one who demonstrates good sportsmanship.
Good sportsmanship is appreciation of the game and the other competitors not only in victory, but also in defeat. Tigers demonstrate this quality through words and actions; through responsibility, civility, fairness, courage, and respect.
Who are we? · We follow the coach’s direction · We celebrate victories with self control and dignity · We accept defeat with honor · We share responsibility for errors and learn the most from mistakes · We respect the official’s word without question · We acknowledge teammates’ efforts as their very best · We make the bus ride home as upbeat as the bus ride in · We support opponents with only positive words, handshakes, and eye contact · We never give up
We are Townsend Tigers. |
