You may have heard the phrase “welcome back” frequently over the past two weeks. Have you heard “welcome forward?” This year, as we return to the hallways and classrooms of Townsend, we are looking forward to a year of learning, change, and growth. We are truly considering our future here in 2008-2009 and our direction for our lives both in and outside the school doors.

 

Have you noticed that each teacher has a VISION STATEMENT posted on the door to the classroom? This statement tells you exactly where your teacher will focus; and what this teacher believes about the upcoming year. We all know it’s hard to move forward without having a clear vision!

 

Take a moment to read that statement as you enter the room. Look around the room: is that statement posted somewhere? Has your teacher talked about his/her vision for your future and for your year? Ask your teachers to talk about their plan for your success in their classrooms--this is their roadmap as they take you forward into the 2008-2009 school year.
