Kacey Carillo A Story of Giving Sixth grader Kacey Carillo has recently donated over 10 inches of her own hair to Locks of Love!
Locks of Love is an organization mainly located in West Palm Beach, Florida. The Locks of Love organization collects donations of hair for children with Alopecia, (a disease that makes the hair follicles shut down,) cancer, or other reasons such as burns, accidents or even dog attacks. Kasey was introduced to Locks of Love by her mom two years ago. “I had longer hair before. My mom told me about Locks of Love and asked if I wanted to cut it.” Kacey says. Giving up your hair is a big decision, Kacey says the first time she cut her hair short she was unsure. “I was a little nervous the first time I did it, but the next few times I felt good because I knew I was helping a good cause.” she states. Kacey has repeatedly donated her locks and it has encouraged her to do something more. Kacey would like to spend her life in a way that will continue to help people! She says she wants to be a pediatrician. She also says that her older sister is a nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital and Kacey is always helping her! Once her sister even wanted to draw her blood for a practice; however, Kacey declined the offer.
