 January 2009

On Monday, January 5, Townsend was the proud hostess of a wonderful breakfast provided by the Townsend food staff. This breakfast served as a welcome to the 17 exchange students from Korea. It gave the Korean students time to get to know their Townsend student ambassadors. Many leaders from both Korea and Tucson were present at this gathering. Even Major Bob Walkup’s wife attended. As it seemed the morning was at it peak, the leaders from Korea and Tucson honored each other with splendid gifts, such as flags, and a hand painted traditional Korean fan. This breakfast truly broke down barriers and proved what a world class school Townsend is. It is a phenomenal experience for Townsend as well as the Korean students. It was an amazing morning to see how everyone mixed together and socialized. I was pleasantly surprised to see the level of generosity and the politeness of everyone at the breakfast. Townsend looks forward to spending more time with these Korean students while exchanging information about both cultures.
